The following unidentified newspaper article, hand-dated 1898, was in a collection owned by Lowell Town Historian Richard Schmal:
    Yesterday (Wednesday) noon was the scene of a quiet wedding at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Baughman; Miss Helen T. Putnam, of Lowell, and Dr. James J. Pattee, formerly of Lowell, but now of South Bend, Indiana, being the contracting parties. Rev. E.P. Bennett, of South Bend, officiating. Miss Putnam is well and favorably known here and [in the] surrounding country, having lived here for the past ten years She will be missed by her friends, especially in her church work. They left on the afternoon train for their future home at 614 South Michigan St., South Bend, Indiana.
