The following April 14, 1927, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 1:

    DEATH OF LAKE COUNTY PIONEER

    Henry Battermen, another of the pioneers of Lake county, passed away at his home in Dyer last week. He was one of the representative citizens of the county and was a member of the County Council. His death was due to complications arising from an injury received several weeks ago when he suffered a broken leg. He was taken to the hospital, but owing to his advanced age and complications setting in he passed away on the evening of March 30th.

    He was born in Will county, Illinois, but the greater part of his life was spent in Lake county where he took an active part in public affairs and politics. Funeral services were held on Sunday with interment in the Hanover Center cemetery.
