The following July 22, 1926, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 6, column 3:

    DEATH OF HENRY CLAUS

Henry Claus, a well known and respected farmer of Hanover township, passed away at his home last Thursday morning at 9 o'clock, after weeks of intense suffering.

Mr. Claus was born in Ko Denfeldt, Hanover, Germany, on Jan. 4, 1851, and when still a little child of four years, came to this country with his parents. The family settled on a farm near Crete, Ill. On March 2, 1882, he was united with Dorothea Seegers in marriage. This union was blessed with three children, one of which, a son, Henry, died in early infancy. The other children, Mrs. Harry Russell and Mrs. Frank Schutz, were at his bedside at the time of his death. About 35 years ago the family moved to Hanover township, where they soon made many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical church, Rev. E. Bloesch officiating. Interment was made at Hanover township cemetery.

He is survived by three brothers, four sisters, two daughters, thirteen grand children, one great-grand-child, and a host of friends. -- Crown Point Register.
