This Lowell Tribune article was found in the February 21, 1946, issue (page 2, column 3):
    Mr. and Mrs. Duane Gunnerson had quite a thrilling experience last Sunday evening when they had a telephone conversation with their son, Cpl. H.R. Gunnerson from Switzerland. They have not seen him since his last furlough from Camp Rucker, Alabama in July, '44.

This April 18, 1946, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 4:
    Cpl. Howard Gunnerson arrived home Tuesday from Camp Atterbury, where he received his discharge. He was in the service three years, and overseas 18 months. He was in Austria when ordered home for discharge.

The following Nov. 22, 1962, Lowell Tribune article was found in the Lowell Public Library's local history clipping files (LH--Vital Statistics, vol. 5, page 44):

    Funeral Services For Howard Gunnerson 37 Held November 18th

    Howard Ross Gunnerson, age 37, of Fresno, California, passed away November 13th, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Gunnerson; children, Christine, Mary and David, all of Lowell; grandmother, Mrs. Ella Gunnerson, of Francisville.

    Funeral services were held Sunday, November 18th, at the Sheets Funeral Home with Reverend Edward J. Boase and Reverend Frank Elliot officiating. Burial was at Francesville Cemetery.

    Mr. Gunnerson was born December 8th, 1924, at LaFayette. He graduated from Francisville high school in 1942 and served in the Armed Forces during World War II, from March 24th, 1943, to April 8, 1946.
