Mrs. August Westberg, Lowell Native, Dies

Mrs. August (Ida Mae Worley) Westberg, 88, passed away Thursday, March 16, at Our Lady of Mercy hospital in Dyer.

Born in Lowell May 27, 1872, the daughter of Nathan and Melissa (Stone) Worley, she married August Westberg of Lowell. The couple resided in Chicago, where he passed away in 1938*. Since his death she has lived in the homes of her children in Chicago.

Survivors include six children, Charles, Harry and Ted, and Mrs. Pearl Bloom and Mrs. Hilma Babcock, all of Chicago, and Mrs. Myrle Cuplin of Ainsworth, Nebraska; three brothers, Frank Worley and Rev. Edmond L. Worley of Lowell, and Rev. Edison Worley of Sheldon, Ill.; also 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Memorial services were held in the Eskridge Funeral Home at 2 p.m. March 18 with Rev. Allen Merredith, pastor of the Lowell Church of Christ, officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Lowell cemetery.

* NOTES -- The spelling of "Edison" Worley's name should probably be "Edson." Also, while this obituary states the death year of her husband, August Westberg, as 1938, The Worley Family Records puts it as July 21, 1940.
