The following February 18, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
    Pvt. Jack Lloyd, son of Mrs. Dora Lloyd, was transferred recently from Florida to the Lincoln, Nebr., air base.

This Lowell Tribune article was found in the January 27, 1944, issue (page 2, column 3):
    A letter received by us from Mrs. Iretta Svinning of Hinesdale, Ill., tells of the engagement of her brother, Cpl. Jack Lloyd to Miss Betty Huddleston, of Mattoon, Ill. The young couple met while Jack was stationed at Chanute Field.
    The bride-to-be is employed by the Mattoon high school. They plan to be married during his next furlough.
    Jack, who was transferred recently, is now stationed at Elgin Field, Florida.
