DOGS GUARD BODY
WERE COMPELLED TO KILL THEM TO GET INTO HOUSE
The dead body of James Rowe, living east of Rose Lawn, was found at his home last Sunday. A neighbor had stopped to get Mr. Rowe, who was a bachelor, to go to his home for dinner, and not getting any response to his knock he looked in a window and saw the man's dead body lying partly under his bed. Three vicious dogs belonging to the deceased, were in the house guarding their dead master; the neighbor went for help and it was necessary to kill the dogs before they could get into the house.The coroner on examination found that the man had been dead two or three days, and it is supposed that he died from the effects of a paralytic stroke.
Mr. Rowe had lived on the farm for about fifteen years and was well liked by all his neighbors. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon. He was 57 years of age and is survived by one brother, whose whereabouts are unknown.
