James Samuel "Sam" Estill (1867-1934)
CARD OF THANKS
We take this means of expressing to the many good friends and neighbors our appreciation of their kindness and sympathy following the death of our brother and uncle, James Estill. We also wish to thank the minister, Rev. Worley, the undertaker and others who assisted at the funeral, also those who sent the beautiful floral offerings. This May 3, 1934, Lowell Tribune obituary appeared on page 8, column 1:
- James Samuel Estill was born on Sept. 16, 1867, in Fleming county, Kentucky. Sam, even though afflicted as he was, was always jovial and had a kind word for all whom he met or knew.
At his mother's request at her death he was left to the care of his only brother, William Sylvester Estill, with whom he resided until his death, April 17, 1934, at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 1 day.
He leaves to mourn his death, one brother, Wm. S. Estill, of Shelby, and one cousin, Samuel Pearce of Gary, Ind., five nephews, one niece, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home on April 19th, conducted by Edmund Worley. Burial at Orchard Grove cemetery, in charge of Sheets & Son.
