James W. “Chub” Hall

James W. "Chub" Hall

The following May 31, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 3:
A.S. James Hall, who is taking "boot" training at Great Lakes, said even though it was his birthday, he hardly knew it or had time to think of it -- he had to help cut up 2,500 pounds of beef. He was repaid in part, however, with T-bone steaks while most of the other fellows dined on lunch meat. At the time of writing the letter, "Chub" was completing his first week of training and getting along fine.
