The following May 1, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 3:

STATE TROOP CONNERS OF LOWELL GETS MILITARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE

According to the Indiana State Police Department, military leaves of absence were granted to Trooper Jerry Conners, who has served the Lowell area for several years, and Trooper James J. McKown, of Wolcottville.

Conners, who recently married Pat Gross of Cedar Lake, has been working out of the Dunes Park police post. He is a veteran of nearly four years service with the Marines during World War II.

Jerry will be welcomed by a large number of Lowell friends when he returns from his second hitch in the service.
