A copy of the following newspaper article, handidentified as being from the February 18, 1954, issue of the Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

Matt's Restaurant Host to Lowell Oldsters

Matt's Restaurant was the scene of a birthday dinner party Friday evening when Mr. and Mrs. Matt Parthenakis feted Jerry Stevenson and his buddies Lawson Harden and George Kimmet. The occasion celebrated Jerry's 87th birthday, which he marked on Valentine's Day. Mr. Harden, youngster of the trio, is only 76, while Mr. Kimmet has accumulated 89 years of worldly wisdom.

All restaurant patrons enjoyed Jerry's two prettily decorated heart shaped birthday cakes with him. He was the recipient of Valentines and birthday wishes, as well as a meal ticket from his host and hostess. The affair was not a surprise party for Jerry, who like other Lowell oldsters are remembered in this very wonderful way by the Parthenakises as their anniversaries roll around each year.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Surprise were special dinner party guests.
