John Lawrence
- On account of the poor state of his son John's health, Geo. Lawrence and his daughter Mary have gone to Arizona with him, where it is hoped the warm dry climate will prove beneficial to him. His friends here hope that he may be fully restored to health.

Death of John Lawrence
The death of John Lawrence, son of Ex-Sheriff and Mrs. Geo. W. Lawrence, occurred at his home in Hammond last Tuesday morning. He had been ill for some time with a tubercular trouble and a short time ago made a trip to New Mexico, in the hope that a change of climate would benefit. He seemed to be better for a time and his death came unexpectedly at a time when it was hoped by friends that he was on the road to recovery.John was born in Lowell, where his boyhood days were spent, twenty two years ago. He removed with his parents to Crown Point and afterwards to Hammond, winning many warm friends in all three places. He took great interest in athletic matters and won considerable fame by his ability. As a pitcher for the Lowell base ball team, a member of the Crown Point foot ball team and of the Iroquois track team at Hammond, he won many laurels. Cut down at the threshold of man's estate with the better part of his life ahead, his death is sad.
The funeral services were held from the residence today and interment takes place in Oak Hill cemetery.
