John R. Minninger

- John Minninger, who has been serving in the regular U.S. Army for the past three years, arrived home Wednesday night of last week. He has put in three years of faithful service for his country and as a reward received an honorable discharge from the army. He has been stationed in Texas during his entire service and has spent much of the time on the border and has witnessed some exciting times. He has enjoyed the best of health most of the time, except being in the hospital for some time on account of a broken leg. He will not re-enlist but will work here for the present.

In an article from the July 26, 1917, Lowell Tribune (page 8, column 4) John R. Minninger of West Creek Township was placed 10,361 in line to called to be examined from the Indiana draft
From the Lowell Tribune, August 23, 1917, page 5, column 3:
- John Minninger, who has been in the reserve army since he was discharged, received notice Thursday to report for duty at Fort Benjamin Harrison. He left Friday morning for that place.
