    Mark 40th Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Abraham marked their 40th wedding anniversary January 19th and were honored on the occasion at a celebration held Saturday evening at Holy Name hall in Cook.

The lovely event was planned by the couple's four children and their families: Alexander of Schererville, Walter of Morocco, Mrs. Henry (Bertha) Huppenthal of Cook, and Joseph, Jr., of Lowell.

The bride of 40 years ago was attractive in a dress of deep lavender, beige accessories, and a corsage of red roses, as she greeted approximately a hundred guests. A special guest was George Govet of of Bensonville, Illinois, brother of Mrs. Abraham, who served the groom as best man when Joe claimed Josephine Govert as his bride at a nuptial Mass celebrated at St. Edward's church in Lowell. They were the first couple to be married in the present church building, and the school had not yet been completed. Renewal of vows was made at a Mass read Wednesday morning by Father Boney at St. Edward's.

Josephine was born and reared in Lowell, and Joe came to Cook from Fox Lake, Wis., with his family when he was nine years old. Throughout their 40 years of married happiness the couple have farmed in the Lowell community.

Both are active in church work. Mr. Abraham's chief pastime is fishing, while Mrs. Abraham enjoys clubs and entertaining. Their greatest interest, however, is their nine grandchildren.

Guests who came to extend congratulations and best wishes were from Lowell, Cook, Cedar Lake, Crown Point, Gary, South Bend, Morocco, Schererville, and Chicago, Lansing, Bensonville, Chicago Heights, and Milwaukee.
