Joseph McConnell (1857-1934)
- Joseph McConnell, who has been in failing health for some time, passed away yesterday morning. Funeral services will be held at the Weaver & Son funeral home today at 2 p.m. Private. No flowers.
This January 25, 1934, Lowell Tribune obituary appeared on page 6, column 3:
- Joseph McConnell was born in Armaugh county, Belfast, Ireland, January 15, 1857, and passed away January 17, 1934, at the age of 77 years and two days. He came to this country in 1884 and worked in Pullman, Ill., until 1892 when he came to Lake county, where he has since made his home. He was united in marriage to Meta Carstens in 1897, to which union three children were born: Elsie L., Robert A., who passed away at the age of 14 years, and a baby daughter, who died at birth.
Mr. McConnell was a member of the Presbyterian church in Ireland.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, one daughter, one grand daughter, one brother, James McConnell and one sister, Mrs. Anna Porter.
Funeral services were held at the Weaver & Son funeral home on Thursday at 2 p.m., in charge of Rev. R.H. Crowder. Interment was in the family lot in Lowell cemetery in charge of Weaver & Son.
The following neighbors acted as pallbearers: Fred Gordon, Gerald Gordon, Raymond McCarthy, John Einspahr, Will Purdy and Byron Ruble.
