A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the Dec. 9, 1955, Chicago Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    Mrs. Joseph Kettwig Rites Held Yesterday

    Mrs. Joseph (Kate Eden) Kettwig, 67, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, following a short illness.

    Mrs. Kettwig was born in Germany March 5, 1888 and came to the United States in 1903 with her husband. The couple was married in 1909. The Kettwig family came to Lowell from, Dyer 25 years ago.

    Surviving with her husband are ten children: John of Edmonton, Ky., Peter of Cedar Lake, Mary Massoth of Lowell, Henry of East Gary, Ann Alinowski of East Chicago, Harold of Lowell, Kate Guritz of Crown Point, Lena Dick of Hobart, Hilda and Joseph, Jr. of Lowell. Also a sister Hannah Einsele of Hammond, and a brother Peter Eden of Germany, and 16 grandchildren.

    The Rev. William Adam, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church conducted services at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, in the Eskridge Funeral Home and interment was made in the Lake Prairie cemetery with John Eskridge in charge.
