“Kelly” Kaiser

"Kelly" Kaiser

The following March 18, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1 column 2:

"KELLY" KAISER LEAVES FOR DUTY WITH U.S. FORCES

"Kelly," a Shepherd-Collie, owned by Carl Kaiser, east of town, was taken to Gary by his master last Saturday, where he was turned over to agents of the Dogs for Defense Corps to receive training for duty with U.S. forces. All dogs considered eligible for this training are given thorough courses in the work until they are considered ready to go to the battle lines with U.S. troops.

"Kelly" is considered by his master to be a very capable watch dog in every way, and for that reason Mr. Kaiser very willingly turned him over to the Defense corps for training.

Come on, "Kelly," and do your part in keeping southern Lake county at the forefront in helping to win the war.
