Lally Wheeler
A SURPRISE PARTY
A party was given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Surprise, of Buffalo, Kansas, at the home of Aunt Lally Wheeler in West Creek last Sunday. There were forty relatives gathered with well filled baskets to do honor to the occasion. It was one of those family gatherings that is so enjoyable to those that participate. While it was gotten up for Mr. and Mrs. Surprise, it was also intended as a surprise to Aunt Lally and in that it was a perfect success. The first to arrive was Ernie Surprise's folks and when they took their basket into the house the old lady asked some questions about it and thought they were going to a picnic, but when the next ones came she began to think there was something up and grabbed a broom and began to apply it with vigor. So excited was she that she did not know what else to do in her excitement. She kept this up on every arrival. A splendid dinner was served from the numerous baskets. The day was spent in social enjoyment and at its close all repaired to their homes, feeling that a day had been well spent.
