The following June 7, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, columns 1-2:

    Complete Basic Training

    Pvt. Leroy H. Mueller, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Joseph Mueller, R.R. 2, Lowell, and Pvt. Milton D. Gerner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Gerner of Lowell, last week completed a 14-week training cycle at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., with a unit of the 6th Armored Division.

    Both boys are now home on furlough.

    As trainees, they received six weeks basic training in the fundamentals of army life and the use of pioneer and power tools, construction of fixed and floating bridges and related subjects besides additional combat skills.

    At the end of the 14-week training cycle with the famed "Super Sixth," the men completing training at Ft. Leonard Wood will be sent either to specialist schools or sent as replacements to other units.

The following June 21, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 3, column 3:
    Pvt. Leroy H. Mueller, sends his new address to the Tribune and would welcome letters from home friends. Leroy's serial number and address follow: Pvt. Leroy H. Mueller US55111860, 9829 TSU, CESC Headquarters Battalion, The Engineer Regiment, Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
This July 5, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
    Home folks will be pleased to learn that Pvt. Leroy Mueller is finding the classes at a sheet metal school, which he is attending, most interesting. He sends his new address and will enjoy hearing from friends -- Pvt. Leroy H. Mueller, U.S. 55111860, Co. M 2nd Schl. Bn., TECR, Ft. Belvoir, Va.
The following August 16, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 2:
    Having completed his courses in engineering at Fort Belvoir, Va., Leroy Mueller is enjoying a nine day "delay enroute" to Camp Stoneman, Calif., at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mueller.
This October 4, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 6 and continued on page 2, column 2:
    With the army in Korea for two weeks now, the family of Leroy Mueller give Lowell friends his current address: Pvt. Leroy H. Mueller, U.S. 55111860, Co. C 822 E.A. Bn., APO 970, c/o Postmaster, San Francisco, Calif.
This April 24, 1952, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 2, column 4:
    Leroy H. Mueller, serving with the Army in Korea, was recently promoted to the rank of corporal. Leroy expects to come home on rotation in September. Letters from friends at home would please him very much. Address: Cpl. Leroy H. Mueller I.S. 55111860, Co. C, 822 E.A. Bn., A.P.O. 970, c/0 Postmaster, San Francisco, Calif.
The following August 28, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
    Cpl. Leroy Mueller arrived home from Korea Monday and after a stay at home he will report to a camp in Texas on September 29, Leroy anticipates his discharge next February.
