The following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    Mrs. Lillie Johnson, 66, Former Lowell Resident Dies At Valparaiso

    Mrs. John (Lillie M.) Johnson, 66, who with her husband operated a bakery here for several years in the 1920's, died Friday, June 22, in Porter Memorial hospital at Valparaiso.

    Mrs. Johnson moved to Lowell from Marion with her parents when she was a small child. The Johnsons left Lowell in 1928 and Mr. Johnson became a prominent Calumet district oil dealer. He died several years ago.

    Mrs. Johnson owned and operated the well known Johnson Chicken Dinner Restaurant on U.S. 6 in Porter County for 25 years.

    Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Irmadell McLaury of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Mary Brajcki of Valparaiso; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brothers, Walter Veach of Everett, Wash., Earl of Lakerton and Harry of Peru; and a sister, Mrs. Fern Stuart of Marion.

    Memorial services were held at __ a.m. June 25, in St. Paul's Church, Valparaiso, with the _____ officiating. . . .
