A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the Oct. 18, 1956, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    Mrs. Lolita Wendel, Lowell Resident, Dies

    Mrs. Lolita (Nichols) Wendel, 51, of Lowell, passed away Friday, October 12, at Indianapolis.

    Mrs. Wendel was born in Lowell January 6, 1905, the daughter of Walter S. and Carrie Nichols. She was married to Karl Wendel in 1928, and they resided in Crown Point. He passed away in 1936 and recently Mrs. Wendel returned to Lowell.

    She was a member of the Easter Star lodge and was active in the Methodist church.

    She is survived by three children, Carolyn Wendel of Indianapolis, Mrs. Margaret Budney of Plattsburg, New York, and Robert of Lowell; two brothers, Leonard of Lowell and Harry of Crown Point, besides other relatives and many friends.

    Rev. E.L. Worley officiated at memorial services held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, at the Eskridge Funeral Home, and interment was made in the Lowell Cemetery.
