This February 25, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 4:
    Miss Lucille Tilton of Hammond, visited her parents, the Guy Tiltons, last Thursday. Pvt. John Spiegel, home on a ten-day furlough, accompanied her.

The following article was found in the March 11, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 1, column 4:

    ENGAGEMENT OF LUCILLE TILTON IS ANNOUNCED

    The engagement of Miss Lucille Tilton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Tilton, to Pvt. John S. Spiegel, of East Chicago, has been announced by the former's parents.

    Miss Tilton was graduated from Lowell high school in 1940 and attended business college at Kankakee, Ill. Since she had lived in Hammond, Miss Tilton worked first at St. Margaret's hospital as a clerk, and is now employed at the Indiana Harbor Belt Railway office at Gibson.

    Pvt. Spiegel is a graduate of Washington high school, East Chicago. He attended Standard Business college and was employed by the Indiana Harbor Belt Railway office before his enlistment in the army four months ago.

    No definite wedding plans are being made at the present.
