A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as coming from the February 20, 1954, Watseka, Illinois,Times, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    Mrs. Lula A. Hale Dies At Martinton, Services Saturday

    Mrs. Lula Adele Hale, 73, died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at her home in Martinton following an illness of three months.

    She was born August 25, 1880, at Grant Park and was married at Grand Island, Neb., to James Ray Hale who died January 20, 1946, at Martinton.

    Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Schultz of Sweetwater, Tex., and a grandson, James Schultz of Martinton.

    She came to Iroquois County 20 years ago from Lowell, Ind., where she was a member of the Methodist church.

    Friends may call at the Segur funeral home from Friday afternoon until time for the services. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home, the Rev. Forrest Light, pastor of the Darrow Christian church, officiating. Interment will be in the Old Berg cemetery.
