Former Deputy Surveyor Killed
Word was received in Crown Point that Lieut. Marvin Goehring, deputy county surveyor during the time his brother-in-law, Edward Schoenbeck, held that office, was killed in action in Germany on April 12. He had worked over the entire county and was well known by many here. He was inducted into the service in June 1942 and was commissioned in June 1943. He went overseas last April and was serving with the 45th division of the 7th army when he met his death. His outfit also participated in fighting at Salerno and Anzio before moving to the western front. He was presented a silver star for gallantry in January 1945.Return to Lowell Biographies.
