Mary Adeline Crawford Brown (1865-1921)
(Mrs. Matthew John Brown)
Passing of Mrs. Brown
Mrs. Mathew J. Brown, who has been in poor health for months, her sickness being due to a cancer, passed away at her home in Crown Point last Thursday morning. All that a loving husband and children could do was done to relieve her suffering, but it was evident for many days that she was clinging to life with a slender thread.By her death, her husband, ex-Treasurer Mathew Brown, four sons, Joseph E., John, Jay and Kenneth, and four daughters, Bessie, Ruth, Mary and Ruby, are bereft of the love of a faithful wife and helpmate and a kind and patient mother.
Mrs. Brown was born in Lake county 55 years ago and her entire life was spent in the county of her birth where she was beloved by all who knew her, and the bereaved family have the sympathy of the citizens of the entire county in their hour of sorrow.
Funeral services were held from the home Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in charge of Rev. Hale, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the cemetery at Hebron. Many from here attended the funeral services.
