Mary Blanch Latta Doty (1881-1925)

- Mary Blanch Latta, daughter of John and Eva Latta was born at LaGrange, Indiana, March 4th, 1881, and departed her life at Shelby, Indiana, June 24th, 1925, at the age of 44 years, 3 months and 20 days.
At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of the United Brethern Church. Through her long suffering, which she bore patiently, she would say, "I know God understands, and I long to be with Him."
She was united in marriage to Howard Ludlow Doty in 1899. To this union were born nine children, Mrs. Joe Carlson, of Hammond, Ind., Virgie, Burnus, Wava and Robert at home, and four have preceded her to the Great Beyond.
She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband, five children, two grand children, a mother, four brothers, a sister and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held in the Christian Church and were conducted by Rev. J.K. Woerner of Hessville. A very able discourse was delivered. Very appropriate music was rendered, with Lyvah Clement at the piano, and a choir composed of Lylah Clement, Mrs. Geo. Hathaway and Virginia Dickey.
Undertaker Weaver had charge of the funeral. The pall bearers were: Joe Curtis, Geo. Dickey, E.P. William, Andy Holton, Gus Daun and Ira Trump. Neighbors and friends conveyed her to the Sanders Cemetery -- the city of the dead.
- Not until the loom is silent
And the shuttle ceases to fly
Does God unroll the canvas
And explains the reason why.
Oh, the dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver's skillful hands
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern he ahs planned.
