Funeral Monday for Mrs. Hermie Hayden
Memorial services were conducted Monday for Mrs. Hermie (Mary Estella) Hayden who passed away Friday morning, January 13, at the Presbyterian hospital in Chicago, where she was taken on December 28, after a short illness. Rev. E.L. Worley officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service held in the Sheets Funeral Home. Interment was made in the Sherburnville, Ill., Cemetery beside her husband who passed away in 1943.Mrs. Hayden was born at _aub, Ind., July 24, 1876. She was one of seven children of William and Almira Zartman, all of whom preceded her in death. In her early childhood the family moved to the Grant Park community where she was married to Hermie Hayden in 1895. They were the parents of five children: Fern Minninger of Lowell, Marie Strickland of Cedar Lake, Kitchell of Lowell, Glen of Crown Point, and Paul who died in infancy.
The couple lived in the West Creek and Lowell communities until they retired from farming and moved to Schneider. After Mr. Hayden's death in 1943, Mrs. Hayden moved to Lowell.
She was a member of the Lowell Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors of America and Indian Trail Grange.
Surviving besides her children are 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
