Mel Mudge

Mel Mudge

This unidentified newspaper article, dated November 19, 1914 [Sixty Years Ago], was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Mel Mudge was drowned last Saturday night. He had started to Water Valley to get some oil, and later the boat was found floating in the river. Search was made for him and Tuesday morning his body was found in one of the ditches leading to river in about two feet of water. He has been staying in a camp up the river for several years. He leaves to mourn him, one sister, Mrs. Edwin Moore, of Shelby, and one brother, Claude.
