    PECULIAR ACCIDENT

    MRS. MERRIT BAILEY TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

    Mrs. Merrit Bailey met with a very peculiar and serious accident at their home, southwest of Lowell, Christmas Eve. She went to the basement on an errand; she did not have a light, and fell. In the fall one of her arms struck an ax that was standing against the wall and her arm was badly cut. She was brought to town for medical attention and it was found necessary to take her to the Gary hospital for treatment. When she arrived there it was found necessary to take ten or twelve stitches to close the wound. She was able to return home Christmas Day and is improving as well as can be expected considering the seriousness of the accident.
