Nathaniel P. Banks
PASSING OF A PIONEER
Nathaniel P. Banks, who has been in poor health for some time, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.W. Iddings, here Friday.For 75 years he was a resident of Lake county, having been born in Ohio and moved here when a small boy. He served in the War of the Rebellion and was the last surviving member of the Hobart G.A.R. Post.
Mr. Banks was a farmer for 45 years and for 24 years he has been in the banking business at Hobart, being president of the First State bank of Hobart for 17 years. He was secretary of the Farmers' Mutual Insurance Co. for a number of years and served for five years as Trustee of Hobart township.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. J.W. Iddings, Mrs. Dunning Idle and Mrs. Naumann, eleven grand children and seven great-grand-children.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. church at Hobart Monday. Interment was made in the family lot in the Hobart cemetery. Undertakers Weaver and Son had charge of the burial service.
