NELLIE E. AHLGRIM
Nellie Elwell Ahlgrim, daughter of George Ethni and Louise Jane Rogers, was born at Ambia, Ind., September 26, 1885, and departed this life July 7, 1920, at the age of 35 years, 9 months and 8 days. When just a girl of 16 she confessed her faith and joined the Methodist church, of which she was an untiring worker. For four years she was a successful teacher and also taught a class of girls in the Sunday school. On her birthday -- September 26, 1908 -- she was united in marriage to John Wesley Ahlgrim and to this union three sons were born -- Wesley and Max and Charles, the youngest who crossed the valley of death with his dear mother that she should not be lonely. Following always the lesson of the Good Shepherd she guided her little flock by love and it may be truly said, she was a loving wife and gentle mother. She leaves to join her on that glad day when by faith loved ones are reunited, a sorrowing husband, two sons, Wesley and Max, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Rogers, of Sawgus Center, Mass., four brothers, Edwin, of Dallas, Texas, Charles, of Tacoma, Wash., Clarence and Ernest, Sawgus Cener, Mass, and one sister, Florence, of Sheridan, Ind.
That time cannot erase,
We still feel you hand upon our brow
Still see your gentle face.
And always when we think of you
In mansions there above,
We'll humbly thank our gracious Lord
For such a mother's love.
