The following 1954 newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    MRS. H. E. CLARK DIES IN WISCONSIN

    Mrs. Gertrude Holmes, of Clear Lake, Wisconsin tells of the death of Mrs. H.E. Clark, in the following letter to the Tribune:

      Dear Sirs;

      Your Tribune, which has been prevalent in this household since the beginning of time, arrived today, but the Clarks can read it no more. Mrs. Clark passed away November 24th, at the age of 94 years. My uncle, H.E. Clark, died in January 1952.

      Sincerely yours, Mrs. Gertrude Holmes

    (Mrs. Holmes is a niece of the late Mrs. Clark. H.E. Clark was a native of Lowell, related to the Thorne Clark family. Thorne and daughter, Mrs. Elmer Gerner, attended funeral services held at Trempeleau, Wis., Saturday, November 27, for Mrs. Clark.
