    Returns to Camp

    Aviation Cadet Nick Kasparian, has returned to camp at Quonset, Rhode Island, after spending a six-day furlough here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kasparian.
The following Sept. 14, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 3 columns 1-2:
    The following letter was received by Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kasparian from their son, Nick, S 1/c, who is stationed aboard ship somewhere in European waters:

      Dear Mom and Dad:

      I received you letters and they couldn't have made me any happier. I'm sorry about not writing, but I'll explain when I get home. There is no need for you to worry about me -- I'm in as good physical condition now as I was when I was home. I'm so glad you didn't stop writing.

      Another reason you don't have to worry about me is that I have a good luck piece from Sis. I'm glad for Sis and Kate that Art and Cliff haven't left the U.S. Sis told me about Cliff getting a good conduct bar. You know it's different in the navy -- you have to be in for several years before you get it.

      Well, something new has happened, I am now a S 1/c. I didn't waste any time while taking the test. Tomorrow I'm going to take a 3rd class P.O. test. I'll probably get it before my next leave. I'll write again tomorrow and let you know about the test.

      All my love to the family and please don't worry about me, I'll always be O.K.

The following Sept. 21, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2 column 1:

    Phones His Parents

    S 1/c Nick Kasparian phoned his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kasparian, last Monday night to inform them he had come back to the U.S. after being aboard ship for some time, on duty in foreign waters. Nick said he was feeling fine, and while away, his ship had visited ports in southern France, Italy, Africa, Egypt, and islands in the Mediterranean.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the October 4, 1945, issue (page 2, column 1):
    Nick Kasparian, S 1/c, called his parents, the Mike Kasparians, from Elmount, Calif., saying he had four days leave before starting back across the Pacific. His ship is bringing soldiers back to the States from the Pacific area.
