Mrs. Esther Blanchard received a phone call from her son, Norbert, A.S., last Thursday. Norb said he was getting along fine and was in Brooklyn at that time, getting ready to leave for sea duty.A September 6, 1945, Lowell Tribune article on page 2, column 1, listed Apprentice Seaman Norbert Blanchard as home on furlough from Samson, N.Y. after completing boot training.

Norbert Blanchard, son of Mrs. Esther Blanchard and Eddie Schultz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Schultz, east of Cedar Lake, both in the Merchant Marines, left Monday for New York, from where they will ship out soon.
