This February 14, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
    Among those leaving for induction today (Valentine's Day) is Norman Novak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Novak and husband of Grenefore Westphal. The couple has been residing in Chicago.

Further down in column 2 was a second article:

    Captain and Mrs. Robert Westphal and daughter, Alma Jo and Mary Lou, accompanied by the Westphals' son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Novak, of Chicago, enjoyed the weekend in Milwaukee, Wis., where they were guests in the homes of Mrs. Westphal's mother, Mrs. Gull, and other relatives. On Saturday evening they attended the formal ball of the International Shipmasters' association held at the Plankinton hotel. On Friday evening Miss Ruth Westphal was a guest at the Michigan State College junior prom in East Lansing, Mich.
This February 21, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:

    LOCAL BOARD INDUCTS SIXTEEN INTO ARMY

    Names of the 16 men who left from the Crown Point selective service board last week for the armed forces were released yesterday.

    The group that entered the Army includes Allen L. Williams, Norman W. Novak, Samuel DeYoung, Gerald J. Austgen, Donald R. Sherman, Jack C. Lind, Roy W. Merrill, Clifford L. Ramsey, James B. Potts, Bernard DeYoung, Donald A. Stark, Robert S. Erb and William A. Wise.

    Orion D. Porter, William E. Flynn and Robert D. Parks joined the U.S. Marines.

The following July 3, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 6:
    Mr. and Mrs. Frank Novak left Wednesday for Fort Riley, Kansas, where they will visit their son, Pvt. Norman Novak. Norman and his wife, who has spent the past weekend with him at Ft. Riley, will return to Lowell with the senior Novaks. Having completed training at Fort Riley, Norman is being granted a week's furlough before reassignment.
The following August 21, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 4:
    Pvt. Norman Novak enjoyed a leave enroute at home, transferring from Fort Riley, Kansas, to Camp Kilmer, New Jersey, from where he will leave for Germany the last of this month. Norman left for New Jersey Tuesday evening accompanied by his wife.

    Sunday, a family picnic at the home of his parents honored him. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Everett Burnham, Patricia and Tommy of Crete, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burnham of Schneider; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Burnham, Billy, Gary, and Mary Jane, of Creston; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burnham, Michael and Patrick, of Lowell. The Perry Burnhams were unable to be present as illness confines Mr. Burnham to his home.

This October 2, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 3:
    Mr. and Mrs. Frank Novak have received a letter from their son, Norman, revealing that he is stationed about 15 miles from Frankfurt, Germany, with the 7th Army. He has been assigned as personal radio operator for the captain of his company. Norman said he is well and would like to hear from all his friends. Address: Pvt. Norman Novak US 55249507, Co. L, 12th Inf. Regt., APO 39, c/o PM, New York, N.Y.
The following November 6, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 3:
    With the 4th Infantry division in Germany -- Pvt. Norman W. Novak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. Novak, of North Mill St., Lowell, recently arrived in Germany and is serving with the 4th Infantry Division.

    Now stationed in the southern part of the country, the 4th Division is receiving intensive field training as part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Army in Europe.

    Pvt. Novak is serving as a radio operator in the 12th Regiment's Co. stationed in Hanau, Germany.

    Before entering the Army last February he was an employee of Von Lengerke and Antoine's of Chicago.
