The following article was found in the January 21, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 2, column 1:

Staff Sergt. Bartz Transferred

Staff Sergt. Orville Bartz, son of W.W. Bartz, has been transferred from Stuttgart, Ark., to the glider pilot school at Bates Field, Mobile, Alabama. In another month, he will be a full fledged glider pilot.

This July 20, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 1:

Visits Father a Few Days

Flight Officer Orville Bartz has been visiting his father, W.W. Bartz and wife, at Thayer, and friends here the past few days. "Orv" will leave today for Camp McCall, N.C., where he is stationed.
