The following Jan. 14, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 3:

    BRIDE-TO-BE IS GUEST OF HONOR AT SHOWER

    Miss Persis Petry was the honor guest at a shower at the home of the Robert Cullens last Wednesday night, with Mrs. Leonard Austgen, the former Loretta Cullen, and Mrs. John Eskridge acting as co-hostesses.

    The Cullen home was very beautifully decorated for the occasion. Nineteen guests enjoyed the refreshments of bride and groom ice cream molds and cup cakes, with the words "Best Wishes, Perky" inscribed in the icing, and coffee.

    After the games and refreshments the hostesses ushered Persis to the gift table, where the lovely gifts were opened and for which Miss Persis expressed her thanks.

    She has chosen today, January 14, as the date of her marriage to Richard Stealey, who is stationed at Norfolk, Va.

The following announcement was found in the Jan. 21, 1943, Lowell Tribune (page 1, column 4) in an article titled "U.S. Navy Men Take Brides: Popular Young Couples Choose Friday, Jan. 15, for Wedding Date":

    Petry - Stealy

    Miss Persis Petry, youngest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Franklin Petry, became the bride of Richard Stealy, son of Mrs. Effie Stealy of Goshen, at the Lowell Methodist church, the single ring ceremony being performed by Rev. W.L. Hargrave, the pastor, at 7 p.m.

    Attendants were Mrs. John Eskridge, matron of honor, and George Stealy, younger brother of the groom. The bride was accompanied to the altar by her father.

    Little Miss Jo Ann Petry carried her aunt's train, and little Bobby Petry carried the ring on a white satin pillow. Both are the children of Franklin Petry, Jr., of Hebron.

    Accompanied by Mrs. Franklin Petry, Jr., at the piano, Miss Dorothy Worley sang "At Dawning," "Because" and "I Love You Truly." Mrs. Petry also played the wedding march and recessional. Franklin Petry of Hebron, and Wayne Petry of Chicago, brothers of the bride, served as ushers.

    A reception was held at the Petry home following the wedding, after which the young couple left for a short honeymoon trip.

    The groom has reported at the Great Lakes naval training station for duty, and Mrs. Stealy returns to her duties as instructor in the Center school in Eagle Creek township this week.

The following article was found in the January 21, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 5, column 3:
    Here for the Stealy-Petry wedding Friday were Mrs. Effie Stealy, Mrs. Charles Bowser, Miss Pauline Rambsy and George Stealy, of Goshen, Ind., all of whom were guests of Dr. and Mrs. Franklin Petry Friday and Saturday.
This April 8, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 6, column 3:
    Mrs. Franklin Petry and daughter, Mrs. Persis Stealy, were in Chicago over the week-end. Mrs. Petry spent the time with her son, Wayne, and family, and Mrs. Stealy visited her husband at Great Lakes Naval Station.
The following September 28, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5 column 3:
    Honoring the birthday of Mrs. Persis (Petry) Stealy and that of her nephew, 8-year-old Robt. Petry of Hebron, a dinner was served at the home of their parents and grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Franklin Petry. Each of the guests of honor had a birthday cake with candles at their place at the table. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Petry and three children, Robert, Jo Ellyn and Gwyneth of Hebron, Dr. and Mrs. Petry and daughter, Persis, and Mrs. Ella Mae Eskridge and little daughter.
The following October 18, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 3:
    Mrs. Persis Stealy spent Tuesday of last week at Great Lakes Naval Station where she went to meet her husband, who came there from the west coast. He was released from the navy that day, after serving the past three years, 23 months of which was spent in Hawaii. They visited her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Franklin Petry here a short time, then went to Goshen to visit his mother. Mrs. Stealy has resigned her position as librarian at the Lowell library, and Mrs. Dorothy Hayden is substituting until a librarian is appointed. As yet the Stealys have no definite plans for the future.
