Ray McKinney, 59, Noble Farm Manager Dies Unexpectedly
Ray McKinney, 59, popular area farmer who for the past 14 years has managed the Guy Noble farm, Rural Route 2, Lowell, on the nine-mile-stretch died unexpectedly Thursday, May 24, at Gary Mercy hospital.Mr. McKinney was president of this local of the pure Milk Association.
He was born at Jackson County, Ind., Nov. 8, 1896, the son of Daniel and Amelia* McKinney. He was married to Hannah Mason Feb. 20, 1917. The family came to Lowell from Penfield, Ill., in 1942.
The Rev. Fr. E.M. Boney officiated at memorial services conducted in the Sheets Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Sunday. He was removed to Penfield where at Requiem Mass was offered at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28, by Rev. Father Herbach in the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial was made in the St. Lawrence cemetery.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, James R. of Littlefield, Texas, Paul W. of Lowell, two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Gordon of Penfield, Mrs. Bert Stark of Lowell, two granddaughters and five grandsons; two brothers, Wesley of Lowell, James of Cedar Lake; four sisters, Mrs. Laura Garrett of Columbus, Ind., Mrs. Henry Fancher of Alca, Tenn., the Misses Bertha and Sophia McKinney of Cedar Lake.
* NOTE -- Raymond McKinney's mother's name was listed as "Permelia" rather than "Amelia" in her obituary.
