Raymond Melvin "Ray" Call

In a May 3, 1945, Lowell Tribune article (page 6, column 1) Raymond M. Call of Lowell was listed as a recent marine inductee from Local Board No. 1. An article in column 2 on the same page adds the following:

    Training at Parris Island, S.C.

    Indianapolis, Ind., April 30 -- Special -- Raymond Melvin Call, husband of Mrs. Myrtle Call, Lowell, was inducted into the U.S. marine corps through the selective service system and is now receiving basic training at the Marine Corps Base, Parris Island, S.C., according to an announcement by Commissioned Warrant Officer Anthony Morello, officer in charge of Marine Corps induction and recruiting in Indiana.

A July 19, 1945, Lowell Tribune article on page 2, column 1 informed that Pvt. Ray Call was home from basic training.
