MRS. S.C. KENNEY CALLED
Mrs. Schuyler C. Kenney, who has been in very poor health for several years, passed away at her home last Friday evening. The deceased was born August 27, 1862, and was aged 65 years, 2 months, 21 days . She was a woman who was always working for the best interests of the community where she had lived so many years, and will be sadly missed in our community, where she numbered her friends by the score. She leaves her husband and two sons, Carl and Denzil, and many other relatives.Funeral services were held at the home at 2 p.m. Monday. The services were in charge of Rev. V.V. Hackley, pastor of the M.E. church. Interment was made in Lowell cemetery in charge of Sheets and Son. The following acted as pall bearers: Howard Slocomb and Ernest Henderson, of Gary, Carl Brownell, Will Tatman, S.A. Brownell, Alva Wood.
This obituary appeared in the Dec. 1, 1927, Lowell Tribune on page 1, column 2:
- Rhoda Rebecca Antrim, youngest daughter of Henry Milton and Elizabeth Antrim, was born at Sumption Prairie, near South Bend, Ind., August 27, 1862, and departed this life November 18, 1927, at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 21 days.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and her greatest desire was to make a happy and cheerful home for her husband and family. She has been in ill health for many years, but she bore her sufferings bravely and without a murmur. She always had a cheerful smile for every one she met, and was always looking on the bright side of life.
She was united in marriage to Schuyler C. Kenney, May 20, 1879. To this union were born two sons, Carlos A., of Gary, and Denzil H., of Lowell.
She has lived most of her life in and around Lowell, with the exception of a few years in Hammond.
She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, two sons and wives, four grand children, one sister, Mrs. J.C. Sunderman, of Gary, one brother, Clint Antrim, of Laporte, many nephews and nieces and a host of loving friends. Her mother, father, three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at her late home Monday, November 21, at 2 p.m., Rev. V.V. Hackley officiating. Sheets and Son had charge of the interment which was made in Lowell cemetery. The following acted as pall-bearers: Carl Brownell, Will Tatman, Ernest Henderson, Starr Brownell, Alva Wood, Howard Slocomb.
