John Tremper Jr., eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Tremper, went to Chicago Wednesday of last week and enlisted in the navy.This January 28, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:

Robert Tremper, who enlisted in the U. S. navy last week as an apprentice seaman, is now stationed at Norfolk, Va. Last week we were in error when we stated that Bob's name was John, Jr.This March 25, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 1:
Bob Tremper Transferred
Robert Tremper, son of the John Trempers, was transferred recently from Williamsburg, Va., to Port Hueneme, Calif. Bob, who is receiving training in the Seabees, passed within 19 miles of home when his outfit went through Gary on the way to California.This January 20, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- A letter received by the John Trempers from their son, Robert, who is with the U.S. fleet "somewhere on the Pacific," informs them that he has been promoted to Carpenter's Mate 3/c, and that he was getting along fine.
This May 18, 1944, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 2, columns 1-2:
- A letter received by the John Trempers a few days ago informs them that their son, Robert, stationed with the naval forces in New Zealand, is O.K. Robert is now a Carpenter's Mate 3/c. The Trempers received a box containing a number of souvenirs from that far off island a few days before the letter arrived.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the January 3, 1946, issue (page 2, column 1):
- Cm 2/c Robert Tremper has arrived home with his discharge from the navy after serving the past three years in the Pacific theatre of operations.
