Pvt. Robert Day, who has been enjoying a furlough at his home at Cedar Lake and with friends here, left for Ft. Meade, Maryland, from where he expects to go overseas.The following May 3, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 3:

Pfc. Robert J. Day of Cook, finance of Miss June Cornell, wrote her recently that he had received the Bronze Medal and Silver Wreath Medal. Pfc. Day, with the U.S. 9th army in Germany, is participating in the final mop-up of the Nazis.Return to Lowell Biographies.
