- Cpl. Robert Cornell recently graduated from A.M. school and is now stationed at Keesler Field, Miss. for his cadet training. He was previously stationed at Lincoln, Nebr.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the April 6, 1944, issue (page 2, column 1):
- Cpl. Robert Cornell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cornell, was home for 13 days on a delay enroute between camps. He was recently stationed at Keesler Field, Miss., but now has his P.O.E. papers and is transferred to Fresno, Calif.

- Cpl. Robert L. Cornell, son of the Harold Cornells, writes that he arrived in India a few weeks ago. He said his group was preparing for Christmas and had made a tree from broom straw and hemp. Bob is a mechanic in the army air corps.
This January 25, 1945, Lowell Thribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- Cpl. Robert Cornell writes his parents, the Robert Cornells, that he has landed with his outfit in China, going there from India. Bob, a mechanic in the air corps, says he spent New Year's eve in a foxhole. His New Year's day dinner cost him $7 and for a hair cut he pays $2 in American money. He said there were no cigarettes, razor blades or anything else available there.
This March 8, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- Cpl. Robert Cornell, in a letter to his parents, the Harold Cornells, and sister, Miss June, says that he has been transferred from India to China. A master mechanic with the ground crew of the 14th air force "Mustang group," Robert says his outfit has been forced to abandon two forward airfields since he has been there.
This May 31, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- A letter received by the Harold Cornells from the son, Sgt. Robert Cornell, says he is a patient in an army hospital in China, where he is taking treatment for eye trouble. He was getting along nicely when the letter was written.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the February 7, 1946, issue (page 2, column 1):
- S/Sgt. Robert Cornell has received his discharge from the service and is now at home. Bob was stationed in China when his orders came for discharge.
This May 23, 1946, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, cloumn 4:
CORNELL - ROY NUPTIALS
- Robert Cornell and Miss Wilma Roy were united in marriage at the Christian Church May 11th, with Luther Villars, minister, reading the marriage service. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Roy and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cornell.
- A reception was held at the home of the groom's sister, Mrs. Herbert Boyens, following the ceremony.
- They will make their home in Lowell. Their many friends are extending congratulations.
