Rosie Guritz Hadders (1880-1915)
(Mrs. August Hadders)

The following unidentified newspaper article was in a collection owned by Lowell Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Rosie Guritz was born in West Creek township, Lake county, Indiana, March 4, 1880, and died at April 10, 1915, at the age of 35 years, 1 month and 6 days. She was married to August Hadders March 23, 1902. To this union was born five children -- two boys and three girls, one boy and one girl dying in infancy. She has been a great sufferer for several months, her trouble being cancer.

She was a woman who was a great home lover, and her first thought was for the comfort of her husband and children. She had a host of friends who regret to hear of her demise.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon. A short service was held at the house, after which the procession drove to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church near Beecher, where services were held. There was one of the largest crowds in attendance that has been our to funeral services for many a day. The following acted as pall bearers: Louis Guritz, John Guritz, George Guritz, August Wehrman, Fred Wehrman, and Herman Wehrman. Undertaker John Castle had charge of the burial service. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

She leaves to mourn her, her husband, three children, her mother, six sisters, four brothers and a host of other relatives and friends to whom the sympathy of the entire community goes out to in their great bereavement.
