Roy "Chick" Graves
SUFFERED FATAL HEART ATTACK WHILE MAKING HIS REGULAR ROUNDS
Night Policeman Roy (Chick) Graves, while making his regular rounds, dropped dead early Sunday morning near the Berdine garage, where he was found lying on the sidewalk a short time after he had fallen. Dr. John Mirro, deputy coroner, was called and attributed his death to a heart attack."Chick", 55 years of age, was born on a farm southwest of town and came to Lowell with his parents when a young lad, residing here since that time. For many years he worked in the Kelsey and Zartman livery barns, until their passing, and then was employed in the Felder garage until about three years ago, when he received the appointment as night policeman.
"Chick" Graves was known to practically everyone in southern Lake county, and had a host of friends because of his cheerful disposition and his willingness to help anyone needing his assistance. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Lowell Post 101, American Legion.
He leaves to mourn his passing, two sisters, Mrs. Walter G. Einspahr and Mrs. Clark Leary, both of Lowell.
Funeral services were held at the Weaver funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m., O.L. Whitehouse, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Military services were conducted by Lowell Legion. Interment, in charge of Weaver & Son, was made in Lowell Cemetery.
