This Lowell Tribune article was found in the May 3, 1945, issue (page 6, column 4):
    A U.S. Troop Carrier Base, France -- Cpl. Roy L. Arvin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Arvin, Lowell, is a member of a troop carrier service wing unit which was recently awarded the Meritorious Service Unit Plaque. The honor was awarded for "superior performance of duty in the execution of exceptionally difficult tasks." It covered a period from May 26 to Nov. 25, 1944.
    Cpl. Arvin, who enlisted in the service 3 years ago when the family lived at Valparaiso, has been overseas about 19 months.
