Roy V. Misner
- Pvt. Roy V. Misner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil R. Misner, Lowell, has been assigned to the Technical School, Army Air Forces Technical Training Command, Truax Field, Madison, Wis., for training as a radio technician. Upon completion of his training he will be fully qualified to take his place as a member of the army air force base operators' group or may become eligible for advanced specialized training.
- Misner, who in civilian life was employed at Standard Forge, East Chicago, is a graduate of Roosevelt high school, East Chicago, 1941, and attend[ed] UCLA for two years. He was inducted at Indianapolis, Jan. 15, 1943, and prior to his transfer to Truax Field had been stationed at Camp McQuaide, Calif., Stanford U., and UCLA.

LOCAL BOY COMING HOME FROM SERVICE IN JAPAN
- Tokyo, Japan -- Announcement of the return to the United States following completion of the prescribed tour of overseas duty, Roy V. Misner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Misner, RR 1, Lowell, was made here recently by Colonel Edgar E. Scattergood, commanding officer of Johnson Air Force Base, Tokyo, Japan.
- A graduate of Roosevelt high school, East Chicago, and a student of UCLA, Los Angeles, Calif., Misner entered the military service in January, 1943 at Indianapolis, Ind., following completion of basic training, he remained on duty in the U.S. until departing for overseas.
- Arriving in Japan at the Second Major Port, Yokahama, in August, 1946, Misner was assigned to the Fifth Air Force, the Occupational Air Force for Japan and south Korea.
