- Other September inductees from southern Lake County included John Berg, Arthur W. Gaither, James J. Stark, Charles R. Erler, Duward G. Ross, Harold E. Roy, James F. Donley, William H. Douthett (Marines), John M. Jesko (Marines), Wallace Neyhart, Roy W. Clemens and Melvin M. Kuhn.
Another article on page 2, column 2, of the same issue of the paper added the following:
- Pvt. Roy Clemens, son of Mrs. Helen Clemens of Shelby, who was inducted Sept. 17, has started his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., with the 6th Armored Division.
The following July 31, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- Mrs. Clemens' third son, Pfc. Roy Clemens is now an instructor in the 20th Brigade carpenter school at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Four Sons in Service
Pvt. Joe Clemens, who enlisted in the Army August 3rd, is now stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., for basic training. He informs his mother, Mrs. Helen Clemens of Shelby, that he has been assigned to the 5th Heavy Tank Battalion of the 6th Armored Div.Mrs. Clemen's son Ben is with the 28th Division in Germany, John is with Ordnance in France and Roy (an enlistee) is serving with the 430th Engineers in Korea. Roy has been in Korea one year.
The following December 27, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 6, column 3:
- Pvt. Roy Clemens was also among the service men who enjoyed Christmas at home. Home for five days, Roy will then return to Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., where he is stationed.
The following November 6, 1952, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 2, column 4:
