This February 15, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- Miss Shirley Hepp, daughter of the John Hepps, has joined the WAVES and left on Wednesday for Hunter College, New York, where she will take her basic training.
This August 9, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- After spending her furlough here with her parents, the John Hepps, and sister, Miss Mary, Shirley Hepp, H.A. c/1 left last Wednesday for Corpus Christi, Texas, where she will be stationed at the U.S. Naval hospital.
This August 30, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- Corpus Christi, Tex., August 29 -- Shirley Marie Hepp, hospital apprentice, 1st class, has reported for duty at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Corpus Christi, Tex.
- Miss Hepp is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hepp of Lowell. Previous to reporting for her present duty, Miss Hepp was trained at the Hospital Corps School in Bethesda, Maryland.

- Shirley Marie Hepp, Ph M. 3/c, daughter of the John Hepps, has been discharged from naval service at the naval personnel separation center in Washington, D.C. She reported for active duty in April, 1945 and her last duty was at the dispensary at Arlington, Farms, Va.
