Susannah "Susan" Munger Pattee (1903-1895)

- Died, in Illinois, seven miles west of Lowell, on March 18th, Mrs. Susannah (Munger) Pattee. Mrs. Pattee was born in the town of Fenor, Madison County, New York, January 1st, 1803 and at the time of her death, she was ninety - two years, 2 months and 17 days old. She was married to Lewis Pattee, in Huron County, Ohio, October 27, 1829. She was in her ninth year at the time Buffalo was burned by the British in 1812; her father at that time living so near Buffalo had to flee for the lives of his family. He yoked up his oxen to a wagon and started in the night for Genesee County, where they moved to Huron County, Ohio. The deceased was the mother of eight children, four of whom preceded her to the Spirit Land; her two youngest sons being victims of the late rebellion, they were taken prisoners at the battle of Gettysburg, July 3rd, 1863, and perished at Bell Island, which was a great sorrow to their mother.

Who has lived to see five generations come and go
She was born in 1803
Since then what changes she could see!
Three score years and ten
Was the time that God allotted men;
But she four score and twelve,
In this ever-changing world has been
But she has laid down her life at last
With all its joys and sorrows past
And we have laid the tired form away to rest
And there let it await the resurrection of the blest
